Luchadoras on YouTube

It's not as easy to find good quality Luchadora wrestling videos as it is Japanese female wrestling.
But there are quite a few videos out there.
It seems that the most popular are clips posted by luchadorasnet (http://www.youtube.com/user/luchadorasnet) on YouTube.
The only problem is, that the videos posted are a year to three years old.

Luchadoras Wrestling In CMLL

Here is a lucha libre video I found on YouTube of Marcela, Dark Angel and Lady Apache going up against Amapola, Princesa Sujei and Medusa in the CMLL.
This is part one of a two part video that was posted by TheCatchChannel who BTW has a lot of good lucha libre videos on his channel.
Like I said, this is part one of a two part video and part one alone is edited but still runs 10:27.
When's the last time you saw a WWE Diva's match go 10 minutes?
And like I said, that's just part one.

I really don't like Princesa Sujei's bleached blond hair.
I think she looked better the other way.

Sweet Nancy

Sweet Nancy is a Puerto Rican luchadora from the town of Caguas.
Nancy has wrestled for both the International Wrestling Association (IWA) and the World Wrestling Council (WWC) in Puerto Rico.
She has held the Women's Wrestling Championship in both promotions.

IWA: La Potra

Another International Wrestling Association (IWA) luchadora, La Potra.
As far as I can tell, La Potra is a heel.

IWA: Genesis

Genesis is another Luchadora that wrestles for the Puerto Rican wrestling promotion International Wrestling Association (IWA).
She also wrestled for the other Puerto Rican professional wrestling promotion, the World Wrestling Council (WWC) where she held the WWC Women's Championship three times.
Genesis has also held the IWA Women's Wrestling title.

Amazona - IWA Luchadora

Here are a couple of pictures of the current IWA Champion, Amazona.
Amazona stands 5'10" and weighs 160 pounds.
She is from Cabo Rojo and made her pro wrestling debut in 2005.
Besides the IWA Womens Wrestling Championship, she has held the IWA Hardcore Championship.

WWA World Women's Wrestling Championship

WWA World Women's Wrestling Championship

Another title without a clear pedigree in Lucha Libre is the WWA World Women's Wrestling Championship.
But it does have the distinction of changing hands once in another country.
Not Japan but Hungary.

Zuleyma was the first champion. It's unclear if this was done via a tournament or if it was awarded.
Lola Gonzalez defeated Zuleyma in a wrestling match on July 20th, 1991 to take the title at Auditorio De Tijuana.
Then in November of 1991, Monster Ripper (the WWF's Big Bertha) defeated Lola Gonzalez in Hungary for the belt.
Ten years later (?) Ayako Hamada defeated Monster Ripper for the belt in March of 2003.
However, Monster Ripper passed away in 2001, two years before the match supposedly took place. So I am imagining that the title was actually awarded to Ayako.
Ayako defended the belt several times in 2003, but now the title is listed as inactive although she is still listed as the title holder.

I'm wondering if maybe the WWWA World Heavyweight Championship which was in All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling, wasn't confused with the WWA title since Monster Ripper and Ayako Hamada both held that title at one time.

The Mexican National Women's Tag Team Championship

The first title holders, Irma Aguilar and Irma Gonzalez

Besides the The Mexican National Women's Wrestling Championship, there was also a recognized tag team title, the Mexican National Women's Tag Team Championship.
And like the singles title, the Championship was held by famous names in the Lucha Libre world.
But unlike the singles title, the tag team belts seem to have vanished.

The first title holders were Irma Aguilar and Irma Gonzalez. They defeated Neftali and Satanakia in the final round of a tournament at Arena Xochimilco on August 10th, 1990.
Martha Villalobos and Pantera Surena defeated Irma Aguilar and Irma Gonzalez for the tag team belts on December 20th, 1991 in Mexico City.
Vicky Carranza and Briosa defeated Martha Villalobos and Pantera Surena for the belts on February 19th, 1994 at the Arena Xochimilco.
In an unusual move, Vicky Carranza and Briosa broke up, got different partners and the two teams faced each other on November 12th 1995 at Arena Apatlaco. Vicky teamed with La Medusa, and Briosa teamed with Neftali. Neftali and Briosa took the belts.
Then on January 19th, 1996 at Arena Xochmilco, La Rosa and La Sirenita defeated Neftali and La Broisa for the titles.
This was the last recorded defense of the belts.

AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship

Besides the Reina de Reinas Championship, Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion has a Championship that women can compete for that's a little different than here in the US.
They have the World Mixed Tag Team Championship.
True the WWE has mixed tag team matches at times, but it's not elevated to this status here.

On June 15, 2003 in Naucalpan, México, Electro Shock and Lady Apache won the first AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship by defeating Gran Apache and Fabi Apache, El Brazo and Martha Villalobos and Chessman and Tiffany in an elimination match.
That must have been kinda weird since Lady Apache is married to Electro Shock, and she was once married to Gran Apache and Fabi had been her step daughter.

Chessman and Tiffany won the titles on September 16, 2003 in San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí.

Gran Apache and Faby Apache won the belts on August 1, 2004 in Guadalupe, Puebla by defeating Electro Shock and Lady Apache, Chessman and Tiffany and Orientál and Cynthia Moreno in a four-way match.
The title was vacated on July 17, 2005 when Fabi Apache didn't show up for a title defense.

Orientál and Cynthia Moreno (brother/sister) won the titles on December 10, 2005 in Guadalajara, Jalisco by defeating Chessman and La Diabólica in a tournament final.
The title was again vacated on November 30, 2007 when Cynthia was injured.

Gran Apache and Mari Apache won the belts on November 30, 2007 in Madero, Tamaulipas after defeating Billy Boy and Fabi Apache, Espiritu and La Diabolica and Ayako Hamada and Mr. Niebla in a four-way match.

And finally Orientál and Cynthia Moreno won the titles on September 14, 2008 in Zapopan, Jalisco at the Verano de Escandalo.

There seems to be a lot of husband/wife, father/daughter, boyfriend/girlfriend wrestling going on in Mexico.
I wonder why Vince hasn't caught onto that yet?

Cynthia Moreno, part 3

Cynthia Moreno, along with her sisters Alda, Esther and Rossy, has been a force to reckon with in Lucha Libre for years.
But not only Lucha Libre, she and her sisters have wrestled extensively in Japan as well.
Cynthia captured the AJW Japanese Tag Team Wrestling Titles with her sister Esther Moreno.

Flavia Antonia Moreno León is a Mexican female wrestler better known by her wrestling name, Cynthia Moreno.
( I've seen it spelled Cynthia and Cinthia )
She was born July 23, 1970, in Mexico City.
Cynthia is part of a fairly large wrestling family consisting of Alfonso Moreno, her father, El Oriental her brother, Esther Moreno, Alda Moreno and Rossy Moreno, her sisters.
She was trained by Pepe Casas, Negro Casas, Blue Panther and her father.
Her pro wrestling debut was in 1987, at the Arena Azteca Budokan.
Cynthia's favorite wrestling moves are the Tope Suicida and Flying Armdrag.
She has held the AJW Japanese Tag Team Wrestling Titles, with Esther Moreno and the AAA World Mixed Tag Championship with Oriental.

Ayako Hamada, part 4

Ayako's favorite wrestling moves are the Top-rope Hama-Chan (Diamond Cutter, Adopted from her father Gran Hamada) , La Ayakita (Neck scissors / Wristlock combination to a kneeling opponent), La Ayakita II (Hamada catapults the opponent into a vertical surfboard stretch) and the Super Quebrada (Springboard moonsault).
In Mexico, her nickname is Super Estrella (Superstar).

After leaving ARSION in 2001, she has won numerous women's wrestling titles in several Japanese and Mexican promotions, including the WWWA World Heavyweight Wrestling Championship from Momoe Nakanishi on May 11, 2003 and the AAAW Singles Championship from Dynamite Kansai on January 11, 2004, just one week after she had lost the WWWA title to Amazing Kong. She has also appeared in HUSTLE under the name Arisin Z.
Hamada is currently working with the Kaoru Ito dojo and works regularly for AAA in Mexico.

Ayako Hamada, part 2

Ayako is a second generation wrestler, as her father is the legendary Gran Hamada.
Her older sister Xochitl Hamada is also a professional wrestler.
Ayako Hamada was trained by Gran Hamada, Gran Apache, Aja Kong and Mariko Yoshida.
She debuted at the age of seventeen against Candy Okutsu on August 9, 1998 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan for the ARSION promotion.
She received an immediate push and won her first title, the Twinstar of ARSION tag belts with Mika Akino, on June 30, 1999, less than one year after her debut.
She won the QUEEN of ARSION from Aja Kong on December 3, 2000.

Ayako Hamada, part 1

Ayako Valentina Hamada Villareal is a female professional wrestler of mixed Japanese and Mexican descent. She is best known by her ring name,Ayako Hamada.
Ayako was born February 14, 1981 in Mexico City.
She has won several titles in Japanese women's pro wrestling, including both the WWWA World Heavyweight Championship and AAAW Singles Championship in the early 2000s.

Janet Fragoso Alonso was born January 14, 1973 in Mexico City. She is a Mexican Luchadora better known by her ring name Miss Janeth.
It's pronounced Jeanette, not Janet.
Janeth was trained by her sister Zuleyma, Raúl Reyes and Pepe Casas.
Her pro wrestling debut was February 25, 1990 at the Arena Coliseo in Mexico City.
Her favorite wrestling moves are the Northern Lights Suplex, Power Bomb and the Thesz Press.
Miss Janeth was the AAA Reina de Reinas (Queen of Queens) Champion. She defeated Martha Villalobos, Cynthia Moreno and La Diabólica in a four-way elimination match.
