Top Ten Luchadoras for June

Sexi Star, number one last month.

There has been quite a turnaround since the last time I did a Luchadora top ten list.
Last time I did one back in May, the rankings looked like this.....

But all of that has changed now and last month's most searched for female Lucha Libre stars are.....

1 Sexy Star (Sexi Star)
Trained by the late, great Abismo Negro.
Sexy Star came in 6th last time but came in at number one this time.
2. Perla Negra
The daughter of Pirata Morgan.
3. Luna Magica
CMLL Luchadora.
4. La Chacala
One of the best brawlers in Lucha Libre.
5. Cynthia Moreno
Famous Asistencia Asesoría y Administración luchadora.
6. Ayako Hamada
Luchadora now signed with TNA.
7. Irma Gonzalez
A blast from the past. I was really shocked she came in on the list.
8. Lady Apache
Another classic luchadora.
9. Martha Villalobos
A classic heel (or rudo) that I was kind of surprised to see on the list.
10. India Sioux
A lovely Luchadora that I'm surprised isnt any farther up the list.

Sarah Stock Versus Amapola

Here is a video of Dark Angel (Sarah Stock before she became a TNA Knockout) wrestling Amapola in a hair versus mask match.
Bear in mind this is a two part match, and the first part is eight minutes.
When's the last time you saw an eight minute plus match with the WWE Divas?

Luchadoras Wrestling In CMLL

Here is a lucha libre video I found on YouTube of Marcela, Dark Angel and Lady Apache going up against Amapola, Princesa Sujei and Medusa in the CMLL.
This is part one of a two part video that was posted by TheCatchChannel who BTW has a lot of good lucha libre videos on his channel.
Like I said, this is part one of a two part video and part one alone is edited but still runs 10:27.
When's the last time you saw a WWE Diva's match go 10 minutes?
And like I said, that's just part one.

I really don't like Princesa Sujei's bleached blond hair.
I think she looked better the other way.

Top Ten Luchadoras for April

First up, since I haven't done this in awhile, here are the top ten most searched for luchadoras on this blog last month.....

Second, The IWG Promotion (International Wrestling Group) is trying to gear up their luchadora division. Back on April 3rd, they held an open casting call looking for luchadoras.

And finally, over at Claudia Wiens' blog, there are some REALLY nice candid photos of luchadoras like Sexy Star and Sarah Stock.
It's really worth checking out.

The CMLL World Women's Wrestling Championship

The CMLL World Women's Wrestling Championship has a long and illustrious history.
Some of the biggest stars in lucha libre have held the title.

Bull Nakano won the title first on June 12, 1992 in Mexico City, Distrito Federal. She defeated Lola González after she and Lola had both become finalists in a 12-woman battle royal.
Xóchitl Hamada defeated Bull Nakano on March 21, 1993 to take the title.
Then La Diabólica defeated Xóchitl Hamada on October 10, 1993.
Reina Jubuki (a masked Akira Hokuto) beat La Diabólica on July 30, 1994, but was stripped of the title on November 4, 1996, because she wrestled in a match against Madusa on WCW Monday Nitro.
Lady Apache then won the title on November 8, 1996 after winning a four-woman tournament.
She held the title until February 6, 1997, when Mariko Yoshida defeated her in Tokyo, Japan.
Mariko Yoshida was stripped of the title in February 1999 for not defending it.
Lady Apache got it back, but then lost it again on August 18, 2000 because she jumped ship and went to AAA.
The title was given back to La Diabólica, till she was stripped of it as well for doing the same thing Lady Apache did, going to the Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA).
Another 12-woman tournament was held on on September 9, 2005, and Marcela defeated Dark Angel (Sarah Stock) in the finals to take the title.
(Raven) Hiroka defeated Marcela on June 9, 2006 to win the title, and held it till she was defeated by the returning Lady Apache on Christmas Day in 2006.
Lady Apache held it until November 16, 2007, when she was defeated by Amapola in Mexico City.

Since then, Amapola has manged to hold onto the title, defending against other great lucadoras like Luna Magica, Marcela, Dark Angel, Princesa Blanca and Lady Apache.
Also Amapola is technically still the IWRG Intercontinental Women's Wrestling Champion.
